Day 1 9月4日 Berlin
(Berliner Dom) AND SONY CENTER

Day 2 9月5日 Berlin to Frankfurt
(Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche)
05/06/2006 Cornwall Crusader 4 Days Trip (5
Day 3 在路上
Tintagel Castle stands on the wild and rugged north coast of Cornwall, suffering much erosion over the centuries. The site is split into two distinct segments: the landward section containing the remains of the upper and lower wards that stand rather precariously on the edge of a crumbling precipice; and the inner ward that lies on the narrow ridge linking the island to the mainland. It is not known for certain who built Tintagel Castle but evidence suggests it was Richard, Earl of Cornwall (brother to Henry III), as he acquired the site c1234, which seems to coincide with the date of the current remains.
Tintagel is most famous for its association with legendary British King, Arthur. The site is known to have been occupied by the Romans for tin mining, but it is as a Royal stronghold of the Cornish Kings during the 5th & 6th centuries that the legend takes hold.
The Abbey was enlarged in the 10th century by the Abbot of Glastonbury, St. Dunstan, who became the Archbishop of Canterbury in 960.The Norman betterment of the Abbey was extensive. In 1086, when the Domesday Book was commissioned to provide records and a census of life in England, Glastonbury Abbey was the richest monastery in the country. The great Norman structures were consumed by fire in 1184 when many of the ancient treasures were destroyed。 When the monastic buildings were destroyed in the fire of 1184, the medieval monks needed to find a new place to worship. The monks reconsecrated the Great Church and began services there on Christmas Day, 1213, most likely before it was entirely completed. In the 14th century, as the head of the second wealthiest Abbey in Britain (behind Westminster Abbey), the Abbot of Glastonbury lived in considerable splendour and wielded tremendous power。 In addition,Arthur's body was brought here to be buried. Today a notice board marks the spot of Arthur's final resting place. Occasionally people lay flowers there to honour this mighty King whose life and death gave birth to so many myths and legends. These mystical tales that still envelope Glastonbury Abbey in a cloak of mystery, add to its profoundly rich and timeless history。 Glastonbury Tor。Glastonbury Tor is a teardrop-shaped hill with its only standing architectural feature the roofless St Michael's Tower of the former church. Tor is a local word of Celtic origin meaning 'conical hill'。Tor locates in the middle of a plain called the Summerland Meadows,这里是鸟瞰Glastonbury Town的好地方。
On the way back to london,We finished off the tour with a visit to historic Lacock and Avebury。Lacock is one of England's most picturesque villages and home to many a costume drama (Pride & Prejudice and Emma to name but a few)。Lacock abbey was used in Harry Potter。Avebury stone circle is the largest circle of stones in Europe with 5000 year old。
29/05/2006 Cornwall Crusader 4 Days Trip (5
Day 1 石头记
Stonehenge is a 5000 year old prehistoric monument,I imagined when I was waliking round this monument which was built by ancient people who mappedd the course of the sun and moon,它看来看去还是石头。 但是以后要来探访“这堆石头”要比现在困难,“Your future visits to Stonehenge will be very different from your experience today。Major plans are being prepared to place Stonehenge in a grassland setting, free it from roads and traffic noise and provide world class visitor facilities。This will improve your enjoyment and understanding of the whole World Heritage Site。English Heritage;the National Trust and the Highways Agency are working together to make these plans a reality within the next 10 years。” -- Stonehenge booklet 下午,在Dartmoor National Park
The first stop was St. Michel Mount,这个景点并没有进入参观。 “The chapel of St. Michael, a 15th-century building, has an embattled tower, in one angle of which is a small turret, which served for the guidance of ships. Chapel Rock, on the beach, marks the site of a shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary, where pilgrims paused to worship before ascending the Mount. A few houses are built on the hillside facing Marazion, and a spring supplies them with water. The harbour, widened in 1823 to allow vessels of 500 tons to enter, has a pier dating from the 15th century, and subsequently enlarged and restored.St. Michael's Mount is still owned by the St. Aubyn family, but visitor access is controlled by the National Trust.”-- Wikipedia LANDS END。Lands End is one of the most popular outdoor attractives in Cornwall。It situated on the westerly most point of mainland Britain and it is surrounded by spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean。
The Minack Theatre。Minack Theatre is a world famous open-air theatre located on the coastline。 IDEA。Minack in Cornish means a rocky place and the black headed crag below the theatre has always drawn local fishermen. “Theatre built in the style of an ancient Roman Amphitheatre, but with the added drama of the ocean as its backdrop, was constructed in the 1930s - as a hobby project - by the late Miss Rowena Cade who lived in the large house just behind the theatre. While the theatre began as a "garden project", it has developed over the years since its inception into a world-famous venue and a summer season of plays and musical entertainment is held every year from the end of May until late September. The programme includes a wide variety of productions - straight plays, comedies & musicals - ranging from Shakespeare to Gilbert & Sullivan as well as modern productions, each showing on weekdays (Mondays to Fridays), with a change of programme and production company weekly.
