Day 1 9月4日 Berlin
(Berliner Dom) AND SONY CENTER

Day 2 9月5日 Berlin to Frankfurt
(Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche)
6/5/2006 Cornwall Crusader 4 Days Trip (5
Day 3 在路上
Tintagel Castle stands on the wild and rugged north coast of Cornwall, suffering much erosion over the centuries. The site is split into two distinct segments: the landward section containing the remains of the upper and lower wards that stand rather precariously on the edge of a crumbling precipice; and the inner ward that lies on the narrow ridge linking the island to the mainland. It is not known for certain who built Tintagel Castle but evidence suggests it was Richard, Earl of Cornwall (brother to Henry III), as he acquired the site c1234, which seems to coincide with the date of the current remains.
Tintagel is most famous for its association with legendary British King, Arthur. The site is known to have been occupied by the Romans for tin mining, but it is as a Royal stronghold of the Cornish Kings during the 5th & 6th centuries that the legend takes hold.
The Abbey was enlarged in the 10th century by the Abbot of Glastonbury, St. Dunstan, who became the Archbishop of Canterbury in 960.The Norman betterment of the Abbey was extensive. In 1086, when the Domesday Book was commissioned to provide records and a census of life in England, Glastonbury Abbey was the richest monastery in the country. The great Norman structures were consumed by fire in 1184 when many of the ancient treasures were destroyed。 When the monastic buildings were destroyed in the fire of 1184, the medieval monks needed to find a new place to worship. The monks reconsecrated the Great Church and began services there on Christmas Day, 1213, most likely before it was entirely completed. In the 14th century, as the head of the second wealthiest Abbey in Britain (behind Westminster Abbey), the Abbot of Glastonbury lived in considerable splendour and wielded tremendous power。 In addition,Arthur's body was brought here to be buried. Today a notice board marks the spot of Arthur's final resting place. Occasionally people lay flowers there to honour this mighty King whose life and death gave birth to so many myths and legends. These mystical tales that still envelope Glastonbury Abbey in a cloak of mystery, add to its profoundly rich and timeless history。 Glastonbury Tor。Glastonbury Tor is a teardrop-shaped hill with its only standing architectural feature the roofless St Michael's Tower of the former church. Tor is a local word of Celtic origin meaning 'conical hill'。Tor locates in the middle of a plain called the Summerland Meadows,这里是鸟瞰Glastonbury Town的好地方。
On the way back to london,We finished off the tour with a visit to historic Lacock and Avebury。Lacock is one of England's most picturesque villages and home to many a costume drama (Pride & Prejudice and Emma to name but a few)。Lacock abbey was used in Harry Potter。Avebury stone circle is the largest circle of stones in Europe with 5000 year old。
5/29/2006 Cornwall Crusader 4 Days Trip (5
Day 1 石头记
Stonehenge is a 5000 year old prehistoric monument,I imagined when I was waliking round this monument which was built by ancient people who mappedd the course of the sun and moon,它看来看去还是石头。 但是以后要来探访“这堆石头”要比现在困难,“Your future visits to Stonehenge will be very different from your experience today。Major plans are being prepared to place Stonehenge in a grassland setting, free it from roads and traffic noise and provide world class visitor facilities。This will improve your enjoyment and understanding of the whole World Heritage Site。English Heritage;the National Trust and the Highways Agency are working together to make these plans a reality within the next 10 years。” -- Stonehenge booklet 下午,在Dartmoor National Park
The first stop was St. Michel Mount,这个景点并没有进入参观。 “The chapel of St. Michael, a 15th-century building, has an embattled tower, in one angle of which is a small turret, which served for the guidance of ships. Chapel Rock, on the beach, marks the site of a shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary, where pilgrims paused to worship before ascending the Mount. A few houses are built on the hillside facing Marazion, and a spring supplies them with water. The harbour, widened in 1823 to allow vessels of 500 tons to enter, has a pier dating from the 15th century, and subsequently enlarged and restored.St. Michael's Mount is still owned by the St. Aubyn family, but visitor access is controlled by the National Trust.”-- Wikipedia LANDS END。Lands End is one of the most popular outdoor attractives in Cornwall。It situated on the westerly most point of mainland Britain and it is surrounded by spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean。
The Minack Theatre。Minack Theatre is a world famous open-air theatre located on the coastline。 IDEA。Minack in Cornish means a rocky place and the black headed crag below the theatre has always drawn local fishermen. “Theatre built in the style of an ancient Roman Amphitheatre, but with the added drama of the ocean as its backdrop, was constructed in the 1930s - as a hobby project - by the late Miss Rowena Cade who lived in the large house just behind the theatre. While the theatre began as a "garden project", it has developed over the years since its inception into a world-famous venue and a summer season of plays and musical entertainment is held every year from the end of May until late September. The programme includes a wide variety of productions - straight plays, comedies & musicals - ranging from Shakespeare to Gilbert & Sullivan as well as modern productions, each showing on weekdays (Mondays to Fridays), with a change of programme and production company weekly.
5/27/2006 I disagree with the others, I like Oxford very much !
DAY 1
Return tickets by National Express cost me 2 pounds!
Stop was The Ashmolean Museum。It present collection of art and antiquities is based on an early 17th century collection made by the royal gardener,John Tradescant。
Visitor Center对面坐落有两所College,Balliol College and Trinity College。
New college was the next stop,
New college also has the beautiful gardens which was built in 1379 by wealthy Bishop William of Wykeham。
Magdalen College was founded in 1458,the college's deer park;meadows and water water walks are brilliant。Magdalen Tower is the one of Oxford's finest landmarks which was completed in 1509。
Queen's College (was founded in 1341)和 All Souls College。 All Souls College is a magnificent college which was founded in 1438 by Archbishop Chichele of Canterbury,as a memeorial to thouse who died in the Hundred Year's War。The great quad completed in 1733,is famous for its imposing twin towers designed by Hawksmoor, and Wren's simdial, moved here in 1658。
The college was founded in 1529,学院的教堂就是Oxford Cathedral。 I would like to point that College hall is a impressive medievlal hall, used as the dining hall at Hogwarts in Harry Potter films。 Merton College was founded in 1264 by Walter de Merton,England's Chancellor。Merton's magnificent chapel, started in 1290,has richly coloured stained glass depicting apostles and saints。
5/13/2006 Time and Life
<http://spaces.msn.com/bjzn2004/Blog/cns!1pyp17V7tViFoosJPuu5DRAg!1075.entry>
Time flies,
Any way,还是要加油啊! 4/29/2006 Nice day out to St.Andrews + Twice car sickness
St Andrews has played a significant role in the history of Scotland since at least the 6th century. It takes its name from the Apostle whose relics, legend tells us, were brought to this place in antiquity by St Rule. Scotland later adopted St Andrew as her patron saint and took his saltire cross for her flag. Before the Reformation, the town was the centre of religious life in medieval Scotland, with the bishops wielding great influence over both church and state. St Andrews is also famous as a place of learning. The university, founded in 1410-11, is the third oldest in Britain.
The Cathedral & St Rule's Tower
St Andrews was a religious centre visited by many pilgrims.Visitors to the Cathedral today will enjoy the dramatic setting of the ruins - the Cathedral was destroyed by a mob roused by the preaching of John Knox in the town during the Reformation - and the sense of history which attaches to what was once one of the most important religious sites in Europe. Owing to the presence of the relics of St Andrew, it was a place of pilgrimage for many thousands during the medieval period. The Castle St Andrews Castle was the former Bishops' Palace, the residence of the Archbishops of St Andrews. The first castle on this site probably dates from around 1200 - evidence in itself that the office was as much political as religious in medieval times. For example, it was the Archbishop of St Andrews who, in 1306, placed the Scottish Crown upon the head of Robert the Bruce at his coronation at Scone in defiance of Edward I, an act for which the Archbishop was later imprisoned.
The University
The University of St Andrews was founded in 1411 and is the oldest in Scotland, and the third oldest in the UK.
Julius and Friends
The People you love... The Places you are a part of... The Memories you hold onto... and those unforgettable moments when you close your eyes and breathe in the life with a smile.
I hope your heart is filled with lots of little reasons to celebrate in the 2006!
12/16/2005 Scottish Experience Week ( Final Day)
Visit to Sun Microsystems and The Scottish Parliament and Ghosts Tour
Sun Microsystems based on California USA in 1982. Sun Scotland opened in 1989, which has 650 employees and was only operations center outside USA. Sun Microsystems' new Java cyber cafe, with 48 Sun Ray machines and suppoting servers, acts as a learning enviroment for students, facilitating groupwork and IT-based research launched at the University of Strathclyde in April 2005. ^^
Scotland's new Parliament sits at the foot of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile in front of the spectacular Holyrood Park and Salisbury Crags. Constructed from a mixture of steel, oak, and granite, the complex building has been hailed as one of the most innovative designs in Britain today.
The MSP Building provides accommodation for 108 backbench and opposition MSPs as well as their staff. The building is 6 storeys high at the north end, stepping down to 4 storeys at the south end. Each office is constructed around a single in-situ poured concrete frame with a pre-cast concrete vaulted ceiling weighing 18 tonnes. Each vault contains a characteristic Enric Miralles abstract design feature.
There are 6 committee rooms, 2 large and 4 small. They seat between 30 and 60 members of the public and media. Each room is fitted with TV cameras to film proceedings as well as an induction loop.
Each committee room features a complex vaulted ceiling and stem-shaped wood panels on the walls. These are part of the acoustic design as well as the aesthetic vision. To sum up, today was the most wonderful day during the week. I really enjoy the whole week!!! ^^
Hi, Guys Bey for now. Have a nice holiday!
12/15/2005 Scottish Experience Week ( Cont.)
Visit to Glengoyne Distillery and Stirling Castle
Glengoyne Distillery is often described as Scotland's most beautiful distillery. The distillery, which takes its name from " Glen Guin " or Glen of the Wild Geese, has been producing an exceptional singel male scotch whisky for over 200 years.
Glengoyne is one of the leading premium malt whiskies in the world. Glengoyne 17 Year Old Single Highland Malt Whisky voted World's Best Single Highland Malt By 62 Independent Industry Experts in 2003.
12/12/2005 Scottish Experience week
The last week before Christmas is Scottish Experience Week !!!
Visit Rolls-Royce and Culzean Castle
Rolls-Royce operates in four global markets which are civil aerospace, defence aerospace, marine and energy. But we just know Rolls-Royce's car ^^. Rolls-Royce Aero Repair and Overhaul factory was opened in 1953 in East Kilbride to service the needs of the RAF during the Korean War. In 1993, it was established as Rolls-Royce's specialist centre of its kind for the civil and defence sectors. Today, 1,600 people directly employed there, about 3,000 more sub-contracting and other jobs depend on the factory's existence.
The property of Culzean castle was given to the National Trust for Scotland in 1945 by the Kennedy family. This attractive corner of Ayrshire contains over 290 acres of mixed woodland, colourful gardens, ponds and streams and exciting rocky coastline with sandy bays and superb panoramic views of Arran and Kintyre, which have earned Culzean the description-" the most magnificent country park in Britain". But unfortunately the castle is closed for Christmas, we didn't get into. -_-
Visit to New Lanark Heritage Centre and Guest company Speaker- James McColl, Clyde Blowers tUESDAY
New Lanark Village is a ideal community.Over 200 years ago the impressive sandstone cotton mills of New Lanark were built by an enterprising Scot, David Dale, in a dramatic gorge in Southern Scotlan, close to the famous Falls of Clyde. Soon the village became know all over the world under the enlightened management of Dale's son-in-law, the social pioneer Robet Owen. He transformed life in New Lanark with ideas and opportunities, which were at least a hundred years ahead of their time. Child labour and corporal punishment were abolished, and villagers were provided with decent homes, schools and evening classes, free health care and affordable food.
12/8/2005 The Beatles Forever
Let It Be When I find myself in times of trouble And when the broken hearted people And when the night is cloudy,
The Beatles is one of my favorite bands。
11/20/2005 Christmas Lights Switch On
